Pat's Track Day Report from New Mexico

8/14/04 - 8/15/04 Arroyo Seco Motorplex - ASMA

Once again we got a late start! Left the garage at 6:30 pm. Hit wind and rain, passed Matt, Gary and Matt while they were getting a ticket on I-10. Arrived at 2 am, hit the sack, up around 8-9 and prep pit and bikes. Had the new cbr1000rr and decided to take it out first as a way of taking it easy the first few sessions. Damn that bike is strong and light!! Not much to report just worked on sections of the track and different things like corner entry speed, keeping my shoulder attacking the corner, weighting the outside peg and keeping my head up. Most of this on the 51, just enjoyed riding the CBR. Got to ride Gary's 636 and that is the best set-up bike I have ever been on, hands down. Thing just goes where you want it, is smooth as hell over the bumps and has power. Pat's 999r is amazingly powerful, handles like Duc's do, which is always the most planted, on rails bike in the twisties -- as it's heritage has proven. Other than the mayhem in the trailer on the way home and Brian crashing, it was a good weekend for me. Never found the time to put together complete hot laps which brothers me a little but got some good work in. Thanks again for the good food from Pats wife, use of the toy hauler and good company. Can't wait to get back to racing!!!
