Tom's Race Report from Firebird East

06/05/05 Chandler, AZ

Good weekend, no crashing! Wanted to get to the :57's and just made it to the :58's. Progress is being made, first half of the season almost over. Have concentrated on corner exit and body position this first half. Thought that the exit and body position were more important than corner entrance. Not that entry isn't important just that I'm a dumb framer and didn't feel I could work at too many things. Entry (if you have all the other stuff coming naturally) is easy to work on. Just get your brake marker, hit it every time then move it up. I'm hoping the mid corner and exit stuff is so automatic I can really work on entry this second half. We'll see.

Tried to run the RC51 for F-40 but after doing a session on it Saturday, I realized why I stopped racing it. Best to leave horses out in the pasture. So I had to run the CBR in F-40. There is a nice group of quick riders that I know I can compete with. It would be a really fun race with 6 or so of us at about the same times. But the CBR is illegal in F-40. with CCS. I was going to disqualify myself but somebody already told the officials. Oh well, I'm gonna miss F-40 with CCS. It will be the most fun race when I race with AFM, WERA, and ASMA though.

Thanks Pat for the use of the garage and Rian for all the work on the bike and changing tires, brakes oil etc. Thanks Sally for bring the fruit. Although I'm starting to think there are enough fruits there already.

Editor's note: Tom is currently in the middle of 7 weekends in a row of racing! Go Tom!
