Tom's Report from Arroyo Seco Raceway
9/10/2006 Deming, NM - with ASMA
Finally back to Arroyo. We missed the last round here because of a conflict with Wera at Miller. So I have to run again
in the counter clockwise direction, which isn't my best. I also had to practice and race 2 different bikes in preparation
for the AMA Grand Nationals. Brian was nice enough to let me borrow his bike for this weekend and also Mid Ohio. As part
of the Arroyo Seco Team heading to Mid Ohio I need to ride a 750 or smaller to collect points for the team. Kevin Edgeington
offered me his bike, but you all know me and HP, so I thought I could get closer to speed on the biggest bike I could ride.
Saturday I was off the pace and knew it was because of riding 2 different bikes. Over the night in the motel room I told
myself "just do it, get your head into it and make the switch as quick as possible in your head" For the most part it worked.
It was the first 2 laps on the CBR after racing the 750 that sucked. I learned the difference hopefully enough to make a
quick transition at Mid Ohio, we'll see. When all was said and done I was in the 11's on the CBR and the 12's on the 750.
That was the best in that direction on the CBR and pretty close on the 750, so it was a good weekend.
Thanks again Brian for letting me borrow your bike.
